In Front Row's Top 5 Tips for a Cheap Cinema Date

Going to the cinema is one of the most popular choices for a date, especially if its the first one.
Catching a film completely gets rid of the dreaded "awkward silence" moment.

Talking during the film is a big no no, but a perfect opportunity for a bit of tentative hand holding.
Try to hold back on the cheesy yawn/stretch move with your arm landing miraculously round your date.

Then afterwards, if conversation is lacking, you can just talk about the film. Perfect.

Nowadays though, the cinema can be a little bit of a luxury and a strain on the wallet. But do not fear.

Here's In Front Row's Top 5 Tips for a cinema date if you're a bit strapped for cash.

1) Go on a Wednesday:

If you go to the cinema mid-week, you can buy two tickets for the price of one with Orange Wednesday.

With this promotion you have to be on the Orange network and send a blank text to the number '241'.
You'll receive a special code to hand over at the ticket booth. If you're not on Orange, someone you know must be!

2) Take your own:

Buying food and drink can be a little ridiculous, especially if you go to a big chain.

Cineworld is the only venue that have a food and drinks policy, the others don't.

The Odeon's terms and conditions say that customers can bring their own, you just need to show a bit of initiative when it comes to rustling packets and smelly foods. (No kebabs I'm afraid).

3) Go to an independent:

You'll have to take a look around, but more often than not small independent cinemas usually charge a lot less for tickets and confectionery.

4) Don't watch it in 3D:

For the right kind of film, 3D is great. But at time it does seem to be used just for the sake of it, not really adding much to your viewing experience.

Opt for the traditional 2D. Tickets are a lot cheaper and you also don't have to fork out for 3D glasses!

5) Don't upgrade:

You always get asked the question whether you'd like to upgrade to premier seating... say no! They'll charge you extra for this.

Lets be honest, a chair is a chair! If you're in a naughty mood, you can always sneak into the seats when the lights go down. In Front Row advises caution for this cheeky move.
