The Expense of Movie Night

Whether its tickets, popcorn or drinks, prices have rocketed over the past few years.

Catching the latest release has turned into a luxury night out. In Front Row have been investigating just how much we are paying for the cinema experience:

The Piracy Problem

Piracy has become a major issue within modern day society, with the cinema being a real hotspot.

With evolving cam corder equipment, more and more law breakers are able to film in a movie theatre and make it into a decent DVD to sell.

An organisation that's dealing with this is the Federation Against Copyright Theft, better known as FACT. We put some interesting questions to them.

The Age of 3D

After several attempts by the industry, the 3D market is finally out there. Films such as James Cameron's Avatar pushed the boundaries and really set peoples' tongues wagging.

3D does divide opinion however. Some believe it's just a money making scheme; wearing silly glasses and charging that little bit extra for a ticket. Then there's those who truly believe it enhances your viewing experience. Whatever your opinion, you have to admit that it is a little bit clever and a real example of technology evolving.

But will cinema technology have to continually evolve to maintain an audience? We had Front Row seats in an independent cinema in Herne Bay who joined the debate.

Pirates Vs Blockbuster

In Front Row spoke to DVD retail chain Blockbuster to find out whether piracy is affecting their business.

In Front Row's Top 5 Tips for a Cheap Cinema Date

Going to the cinema is one of the most popular choices for a date, especially if its the first one.
Catching a film completely gets rid of the dreaded "awkward silence" moment.

Talking during the film is a big no no, but a perfect opportunity for a bit of tentative hand holding.
Try to hold back on the cheesy yawn/stretch move with your arm landing miraculously round your date.

Then afterwards, if conversation is lacking, you can just talk about the film. Perfect.

Nowadays though, the cinema can be a little bit of a luxury and a strain on the wallet. But do not fear.

Here's In Front Row's Top 5 Tips for a cinema date if you're a bit strapped for cash.
